UK Vehicle Insurance

Read your policy

Vehicle insurance policies can vary greatly, so it is important that you read yours carefully. New laws mean that there should be no small print or difficult language in modern insurance policy booklets. There are three documents that you should be familiar with:

  • Certificate of insurance: this is evidence of insurance as required by the Road Traffic Act.
  • Cover note: this acts as a temporary policy and certificate of insurance and is usually issued whilst you are renewing an existing policy.
  • Policy document: the terms and conditions of your policy.
